U of O Duck iPhone Cozy

State of Oregon has many good schools but most famous friendly rivals are the UofO [University of Oregon] and OSU [Oregon State University]. In the State of Oregon you will find many who are die-hard fans of one school or the other, it's a fun rivalry around business offices and neighbors houses. Everyone likes to display their preferred school emblems and colors.
Recently my niece was accepted to UofO and we are very excited for her, but long before that my cousin was a fan of the Green and Yellow. So after I made my [Owl iPhone Cozy] she rang me up and asked to make her a duck one, as a duck is the mascot for UofO. I ventured on my journey to make this more difficult Duck iPhone Cozy

I had not followed any instructions other then making the green part same as the coffee part of the Owl iPhone Cozy

Owl iPhone Cozy

A friend of mine bought a crochet owl cell phone cozy and I liked it so much I decided to crochet my own.

This is what my Owl iPhone Cozy looks like.

This is the Owl cell phone cozy my friend bought.

I started by just making a chain that is the same size as the bottom of my iPhone.

Then I started to go around the chain with single crochet to make a basket like nest for my phone to fit.

And then I just kept going around and making sure the phone fits and it's not too tight.

I wanted my button to be a little lower then the one my friend bought so I extended the back flap a little.

I crochet the eyes as just a round circle that one begins for hats or amigurumi animals. And the beak I made of thin yarn like one for cross stitching. I just crochet a little square with the smallest hook I had and stuffed it behind the eyes to sew it on.

Wings I made by making a small chain I think of 6 sc st or so and then adding 2 st each row for 2 more rows.

And then final addition is scavenging for a prominent button for the back.
